Ericsson and NSN bags Vodafone’s Project Spring

Ericsson and Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) has been awarded five year contract from Vodafone for Project Spring.

Vodafone has awarded Ericsson with a 5 year agreement as part of its Project Spring organic investment programme initial phase whereas Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) has been awarded a contract to modernize and expand its existing radio network.

Under the five-year deal, NSN will supply its Single RAN advanced platform, operations support systems and related services. In conjunction with this agreement, Vodafone has also selected NSN to provide a common Subscriber Data Management (SDM) solution.

NSN will implement its Single RAN advanced platform based on Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station. In addition, the company will upgrade its NetAct network management system to enable an effective monitoring, management and optimization of Vodafone’s network. Support services include network implementation, planning and optimization as well as care services to ensure rapid completion of the network modernization.

Ericsson has earlier secured a strong footprint in established markets with Vodafone and will now be part of Vodafone’s aggressive growth plan for both coverage and capacity under Project Spring. Ericsson’s service professionals will transform the Vodafone network into a market leading high-performance network for mobile broadband with full 4G LTE support.

Ericsson services professionals will help Vodafone address all of the challenges associated with deploying 2G/3G/4G networks, assuming responsibility for everything from planning, end-to-end network rollout, tuning and optimization.

The products part of the agreement include Ericsson’s full RBS 6000 portfolio as well as Ericsson’s unique Antenna Integrated Radio (AIR) product.
