Vodafone Red Together : An Airtel ‘Extended’ Family Plan

Vodafone today announced a new tariff plan for its postpaid customers called Vodafone Red Together. In this plan the operator claims users can save up to 20% of their existing bill rentals and can get 20 GB more data.

This Vodafone Red Together is meant for existing Vodafone Red customers and is applicable for all Red users including the basic users with a rental plan of Rs 399.

The plan says multiple Vodafone Red customers can get together and come under a single Red Together plan and share the same benefits as offered in the new plan.

If looked closely one can notice that Airtel had launched a similar plan in July this year called Airtel Family plan where members of a family can be clubbed in to a single postpaid plan and they can share the benefits that includes reduced rental, data sharing and a single converged billing.

The Vodafone Red Together plan is an exact copy of the Airtel Family plan but with a little tweaking – its not restricted to just family members. The plan can add members beyond the family to avail this facility, or you can say, its a plan for the extended family.

Vodafone says with this plan, the group – however big it is, can make a single payment and, in that way, can save up to 20% of the bill rental.

The operator who is in the middle of a merger with Idea Cellular had launched a new postpaid plan early this month where it offered multiple benefits to the customers including data rollover, free national roaming and a sort of family plan. Even that plan was a complete copy of Airtel Postpaid Promise plan.

In data rollover, which is a part of Vodafone Red Together, a customer will be eligible to get to use his unused data of the previous billing cycles, so that no consumer looses data for what he has already paid for. However, there is an upper limit of 200 GB of such unused data that can be offered to a customer.
