Vodafone Data Center Head Hessler Quits to Join Elephant Talk


Armin Hessler joins Elephant Talk from Vodafone

Vodafone Group’s head of Global Data Center Management Dr. Armin Hessler has quit the company. He is joining Elephant Talk Communications as co-president.

Elephant Talk Communications offers cloud-based SDN (software defines networks) and NFV (Network Functions Virtualization) platforms for mobile network operators. Its solutions have been deployed by operators like Vodafone Spain, Iusacell in Mexico and Zain in Saudi Arabia.  Very recently Elephant Talk has deployed its solutions with Lowi, a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) of Vodafone, where the operator was able to launch the services in just three months by using Elephant Talk’s solution.

Hessler currently holds the position of head of Global Data Center Management and Service Excellence at Vodafone. He is also responsible for Vodafone’s global data center strategy and global transformation projects. Prior to this position, he has held various senior management roles in Vodafone including head of enterprise IT, strategy & innovation. In that role he was responsible for the information technology of Vodafone’s global enterprise business unit and accountable for the operations of all globally shared services and Vodafone’s worldwide office IT.

As co-President of the Elephant Talk mobile platform business, Hessler will be responsible for software development, business management and operations.

Besides the appointment of Hessler, Elephant Talk has also appointed Martin Zuurbier, the current CTO of the company, as co-President. Both the co-presidents will take up their responsibilities from April 1, 2015.

Both Hessler and Zuurbier will report to the CEO, Steven van der Velden, who is also the Chairman of the company.
