TRAI submits recommendation for FM migration

In a fresh recommendation TRAI on Thursday said the ministry of information and broadcasting should fix a date for FM radio operators to migrate from phase-II to  phase-III after the completion of auction process.

The sector regulator also suggested the cut-off date for the migration should be by March 31, 2015.

The information and broadcasting ministry plans to auction 839 channels across 294 cities for the migration to phase-III for FM operators.
TRAI had suggested in its recommendation that the validity period of the license of FM operators should be 15 years from the date of migration.

TRAI also offered a formula to calculate migration fee for broadcasters.It said that its earlier recommendation regarding channel spacing should be accepted.
