Taj Mahal Gets Free WiFi

free-wifi-at-taj-mahalWorld famous Mughal era monument Taj Mahal is now WiFi enabled. BSNL today made the arrangements to offer free WiFi at the monument in Agra. Telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad inaugurated the service in presence of BSNL CMD Anupam Shrivastava.

The state run operator will offer free WiFi for first 30 minutes for consumers and then it will be charged at Rs 30 per hour there on.

BSNL in association with Quadgen Wireless has put the required infrastructure at Taj Mahal to offer the WiFi service.

Last month the PSU operator launched WiFi at Konark Sun Temple in Odisha.

The Sun Temple at Konark is among the eight Archeological Survey of India (ASI) controlled monuments, identified by the Modi government, to get free WiFi service.  If Konark goes WiFi, as per the sources, it will be the second heritage site to offer the free internet service. The Ganga ghats of Varanasi were the first to get free wi-fi on the efforts by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who represents the this holy city in Lok Sabha.

ASI and local government had already provided all the required permissions necessary to install the WiFi infrastructure.

The other such monuments to get free internet are Khajuraho temple in Madhya Pradesh, Humpy in Karnataka, Shor temple in Mahabalipuram and Buddheshwar temple in Thanjore,  Fatehpur Sikri and Saranath in Varanasi.
