Sachin Branded Smartron SRT Phone To be Launched Today

Smartron, the company backed by Sachin Tendulkar, will launch its third product and second smartphone today. The phone named as SRT Phone is self explanatory as Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar Phone, and is expected to be a 5.5 inch device and will bring the latest features and specs, though we do not have much information around the phone yet.

The cricket legend is expected to be in New Delhi today to launch the phone.

The one year old company has so far launched two smart devices – a smartphone named as, and a hybrid laptop named Both the devices have received rave reviews in the market, both for their looks and for performance.

The Smartron, overall is a smart device with a futuristic approach. The company that portray as India’s first integrated consumer IoT company has also claimed that the is designed and engineered in India and assembled in China.

The SRT Phone, however, is expected to be completely designed and engineered in India. The manufacturing of the device could partly be in India as the country does not have the full set up of component manufacturing units to build a complete phone from scratch.

Recently the company had signed a 3G/4G patent license agreement with chipmaker Qualcomm This will help Smartron get the patented technology from Qualcomm to develop and build its future products. Having a genuine license has its own advantages over unlicensed technologies that many a smartphone makers resort to these days.

Earlier last month, the company had hired former Motorola India general manager Amit Boni to drive its sales and marketing activities, the only week link of Smartron.

Smartron, with just two products in the last fiscal, has garnered a revenue of Rs 50 crore. The company also opened its new corporate office at Hyderabad last fiscal which was inaugurated by Telangana’s IT minister K T Rama Rao. He was supported by Smartron founder Mahesh Lingareddy and Co-founders Narsi Reddy Posham and Rohit Rathi.

On this occasion, the company joined hands with the state of Telangana and signed a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and agreed to expanding Corporate Headquarters and its state of the art R&D center, setting up a mega data center server farm, bringing T-Hub onto tronX ecosystem to support innovation and manufacturing not just handsets but a range of smart devices, sensors, systems and vehicles. The Telangana state government has agreed to assist and extend incentives and subsidies to Smartron for its business activities through various technology, manufacturing and IOT policies.
