Jio To Launch Its FTTH Service Jio Fiber With Minimum 100 Mbps Speed In June

After completely shaken up the mobile broadband space in the country, Reliance Jio is all set to storm your homes with its latest offering -FTTH. And the company is going to launch its FTTH service, Jio Fiber, in June this year, a company source revealed.

“We are doing some trials in various cities and most trials are successful and ready for commercial roll out,” said the source wishing not to be named.

When asked when can we have this at our homes, the executive said it could be a reality in next two months.

“By June you will see some development in your city,” he added.

The executive said the services planned to be offered on Jio Fibre will be like no other.

“The minimum speed one will get is 100 Mbps. Our plans start from 100 Mbps and it will be the most affordable home broadband service that Indian consumers will ever get,” the source added.

When asked how much would be the tariff, the executive said, “you will not mind paying that.”

The company is planning to offer multiple services over the home broadband services on its Jio Fiber plan.

“For example, it will be having a smart calling feature. What it will offer is all the phones in your home will get virtually connected. Means, if you got a call on the landline, you can receive it on your mobile and vice versa,” the executive explained.

However, the source clarified that the virtual merger of phones is a service that one could opt for if he or she wants, and not a default service.

The company is also planning to come up with multiple solutions as ‘packages’ for its customers, like home automation, surveillance and security among others.

Besides, the Jio Fiber will also come with solutions to make your home automated. The electronic appliances of a home can be regulated and monitored using some smart devices that will come with Jio Fiber and the customer, if wants, can connect his entire to its FTTH network and control that from his smartphone.

This will be the first case of deployment of IoT technology at homes in a mass scale, the executive stated.

Jio yesterday had said about the company’s FTTH plans during its year end financial results announcement.

“The Company continues to make progress on the roll-out of its Fibre to the Home (FTTH) business offering with beta trials initiated in a few locations. It would expand the scope of the beta trials over the next few months,” it had said yesterday.
