Prasoon Sinha moves to Oslo, Vivek Anand is Uninor’s new CFO

Uninor today announced that its current CFO Prasoon Sinha will move to the group finance function at Telenor Group headquarters in Oslo and in his place Vivek Anand will be the new CFO.

Prasoon Sinha will take up the position of vice president and head, Dynamic Performance Management Project at Telenor headquarters. In his new role, Prasoon will be involved in creating value through performance management across different business units of the Telenor Group. He will also drive the implementation of Uninor’s “cluster approach” in different Telenor Group business units.

“Yet again, we see an example of Uninor’s top talent taking leadership positions in the Telenor Group. Prasoon has served Uninor for close to six years, ensuring that the company delivers on its low-cost business model and delivers on the commitments towards our shareholders. We are proud to see him in a role from where Uninor’s best practices can benefit Telenor Group companies across regions,” said Morten Karlsen Sorby, nominated CEO, Uninor.

Vivek moves from his current position of chief finance officer at Unilever Bangladesh (Dhaka) and will take charge of the finance function at Uninor that includes treasury and supply chain management, internal audit, business planning and strategy, accounting, reporting and taxation.

Prior to his position at Unilever Bangladesh, that he has held since 2010, Vivek has served as the finance director at Hindustan Unilever and as regional finance director at Unilever Singapore responsible for change management program in finance covering all operating countries in Asia, Africa, Middle East and Central Eastern Europe.

“Long term commitment towards investments works well when it is matched with a prudent focus on delivering on financial milestones. Vivek inherits a finance function that has been key to Uninor delivering on its financial targets, including the break-even within three years, exactly as committed,” said Sorby.

“Uninor today has a solid platform from where we pursue ambitious growth targets for the future. Vivek’s competence, experience and leadership will play an important part in this pursuit,” added Sorby.

The leadership change in Uninor’s finance department will be concluded by the end of April with the Vivek Anand taking up the position in May.
