Pinyon selects Sequans for broadband

Pinyon Technologies and Sequans Communications has announced that they are collaborating to deliver multiple LTE mobile broadband product solutions to LTE service providers worldwide.

The new LTE products will be based on Sequans’ Mont Blanc LTE platform and Pinyon’s AirWire technology, which together provide powerful LTE connectivity and ultra high throughput for bandwidth-hungry applications such as real-time video streaming.

The first Pinyon/Sequans product to reach the market is expected to be introduced in India in the first half of 2014 with other global markets to follow.

“Pinyon’s AirWire technology provides an excellent basis for the design of innovative LTE data products,” said Georges Karam, CEO, Sequans.

“We believe our collaboration will yield excellent LTE devices with strong consumer appeal in many markets,” added karam.

“We are pleased to collaborate with Sequans to answer the high demand from global 4G LTE markets for new high bandwidth, single-mode LTE broadband products,” said Debashis Bagchi, CEO, Pinyon Technologies.

“The combination of Sequans’ superior LTE chip technology with our expertise in mobile wireless networking will yield LTE devices with exceptional value to service providers and their customers worldwide,” added Bagchi.

According to Strategy Analytics an estimated 1 billion non-handset LTE devices will deploy over the next five years and two-thirds of these, or about 650 million devices, will be single-mode LTE.
