P Balaji resigns from Microsoft, Ajey Mehta to head devices

P Balaji has resigned from Microsoft and decided to move on for personal reasons after spending almost two years with Nokia and now in Microsoft Devices Group (MDG).

Balaji joined Nokia in October 2012 as managing director, India Area, and has led the team through one of the most competitive periods. Being focused on his team and collaboration, he has been instrumental in helping driving momentum behind Lumia, building the X family of phones as well as strengthening our retail execution in the country.

Ajey Mehta, the current head of sales operations- India Middle East and Africa, will be the acting area head for India. Ajey will continue in his current role at the same time. He is a veteran in the company, having joined Nokia 10 years ago and has held several key roles in this period including heading retail in Singapore, a stint in the global Retail team and leading Sales Ops for the erstwhile SEAP region.

Balaji will continue to be an Advisor till October 2014 to MDG and Ajey in the transition.
