Oi Brasil selects NSN for LTE

Oi Brasil, one of Brazil’s leading operators has selected Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) for its LTE (Long Term Evolution) network.

In addition to that, NSN will also upgrade the operator’s GSM and 3G networks across the country.

Oi Brasil’s 4G network will offer a whole new range of data services and applications, enabling its users to enjoy a significantly better mobile broadband experience, especially in regions with higher mobile broadband demand.

Under the contract, NSN will transform Oi Brasil’s network in several regions to a Single RAN (Single Radio Access Network) system based on its Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station for GSM, 3G and LTE. As part of the core network, the company will provide its Liquid Core based Evolved Packet Core (EPC) platform.

In addition, NSN will also deploy its Subscriber Data Management Platform (SDM) including New Technology Home Location Register (NT-HLR) and One-NDS subscriber data management system for a centralized database repository independent of the application used.

The scope of the deal also includes network planning and optimization, systems integration and care services, including hardware and software services.

As of today, NSN has 94 commercial references for the delivery of LTE with leading customers in advanced mobile broadband markets such as Northern Europe, Japan, South Korea and the United States.
