Xiaomi Brings Sub-brand POCO Eyeing Premium Segment

Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone maker that became one of the most talked about brands globally  in a matter of 3 years, now came out with a sub-brand called POCO. Not only that, the sub-brand has alsso launched its first smartphone in the Indian market named as POCO F1.

The POCO F1 was launched on Wednesday and Jai Mani who used to look after the product development for Xiaomi, is now the global head of products for the new brand as well.

With POCO F1, the company brings almost all the latest features available under the sun, to this new smartphone. The sole aim of the brand is to make its mark in the premium segment of smartphones, be it in India or globally. Yet, the company wishes to offer the smartphones at comparatively affordable price.

The new phone that was launched, POCO F1, comes in 6.18 inch display. The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and uses three different ROM and RAM variants. One variant comes with 6GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage, the other two with 6GB RAM and 128 GB ROM, and 8GB and 256 GB internal storage.

The 6GB/64GB variant is priced at Rs 20,999, the 6GB/128GB variant at Rs 23,999 and the 8GB/256GB variant is priced at Rs 28,999. The POCO F1 will be available on Flipkart as well as the company’s website starting 29th August.

There is one more variant. This variant comes with 8GB RAM and 256 ROM but the back panel is covered with Kevlar – the material used for bullet proofing vests!

From camera perspective, the phone comes with dual camera set up – a 12 megapixel snapper and another 5 megapixel snapper. The front selfie camera is a 20 megapixel sensor and the cameras at the back as well ass front come with dual tone flash.

The POCO F1 is a dual SIM phone and offers VoLTE on both the SIMS provided VoLTE enabled services are used. It comes with a 4000 mAH battery.
