Meizu Starts Second Inning In India, Launches 3 Smartphones

The journey of Meizu since it was established back in 2003 by Jack Wong is quite interesting. Starting from manufacturing of MP3 players and later MP4 players, it shifted its focus to smartphones in 2008, gradually becoming the 11th largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. Alibaba also invested in Meizu in 2015.

Meizu entered in the India market in 2015 positioned itself as an alternative to Xiaomi, and guess what, in 2018 they announced its comeback again attempting to challenge Xiaomi’s Redmi 6A with Meizu C9 and Meizu M6T against Redmi 6. On the other hand its flagship phone M16th will take on OnePlus 6T.

Meizu C9 Specs And Details:

This is its affordable offering which has a 5.45 inch display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. The phone has a 3000 mAh battery and a 13 MP rear camera. Besides this its using Unisoc SC9832E quad core chipset which was launched few months back. And it will be big test for Unisoc also in the 4G entry level smartphones. Talking about its capability the UNISOC SC9832E possesses a mature 28nm HPC+ processor technology, featuring 1.4GHz Quad-core Arm Cortex (TM)-A53 processor. It is equipped with 3D graphics acceleration Mali T820 MP1 graphics processor. It supports 5-mode Cat 4 communication and VoLTE, ViLTE and VoWiFi capabilities.

C9 runs a stock version of Android Oreo out-of-the-box and available at Rs 5,999. There is a special introductory offer from Amazon and Reliance Jio for 1st 10 days wherein the device price is at Rs 4,999.

Meizu M6T

The second device in the sub 10k category t,he Meizu M6T, comes equipped with a 13MP + 2MP dual-camera, which uses a Sony IMX278 RGBW four-color sensor. It comes with a 3,300 mAh battery, and available in two colour variants-black and rose gold in India. This is powered by MediaTek MT6750 which is an Octa core processor. paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. runs a version of Flyme OS on top of Android out-of-the-box.

The Meizu M6T is priced at Rs. 7,999

The flagship Meizu M16TH comes as 8GB / 128 GB variant, and will be available on Amazon for an introductory price of Rs. 39,999. The M16th has thinnest bezels measuring just 1.43mm, that support a screen to display ratio of almost 90%. The M16th also sports a combination camera of 12-megapixel and 20-megapixel dual imaging system on the rear, while the front camera is a 20-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture, and support for 1080p video recording. The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 which is a beast when it comes to performance supported by a water cooling system to keep the device heating at a minimal. The phone also sports an in-display fingerprint sensor and runs on the Flyme user interface based on Android 8.0 Oreo. It packs a 3,010mAh battery.

Partners with Reliance Jio to sell Meizu branded smartphones across Jio stores

With this partnership, Reliance Jio channel partners will stock and sell the Meizu C9 smartphone across the company expansive distribution channel in India. Reliance Jio, with a customer base of 252.2 million, and 400K stores across India, has disrupted the market since its launch in 2016, and is adding 10,000 stores every month.
