Nasscom comments on Digital India program

NASSCOM welcomes Union Government’s decision of earmarking an investment of Rs one lakh crore for the Digital India program, aimed at promoting broadband internet penetration, promote e-governance and transform India into a connected knowledge economy.

NASSCOM has been advocating the vision to ‘Connect, Collaborate and Co-create’ by empowering the Indian economy through the large scale adoption of IT across horizontals. The government’s focus on digital empowerment, broadband highways and universal mobile access is an opportunity to define new paradigms for verticals like healthcare and education and build an ecosystem of IT and ITeS which can be replicated across domains.

This is a welcome sign towards creating technology relevant and accessible to all. The Indian technology industry of India are ready and willing to be a part of this ambitious journey and we look forward to working with the government towards implementing this project.

We will work with government to organize a roundtable where the industry and other stakeholders to come together to outline the way forward and identify ways and means for the industry to partner in achieving the vision.
