Karbonn To Invest Rs 2000 Cr, Sets Up Plant In Haryana


Jaina Group led smartphone maker Karbonn Mobiles on Friday announced the set up of its new manufacturing plant in Bawal, Haryana. The company said it has got support from the state government to set up the plant.

Karbonn said the plant was set up within a short span of six months and has 22 assembly lines. The plant has a target of producing 30 million mobile units per year. However, at present the plant is producing 1.5 million units per month. The production capacity, the company said, will be enhanced to 2.5 million per month by end of this year.

“The Haryana plant is our humble contribution towards the government’s nation building efforts for inclusive and sustainable economic growth. It is a moment of great pride for us to be associated in a small way towards making India an economic superpower to reckon with. With an aim to bring the benefits of Smartphone telephony to the masses, the manufacturing facility will help us in providing customized products for Indian market at a faster time,” said Pradeep Jain, MD of Karbonn Mobiles.

The company also said that it would employ and train around 4000 people in the coming years which would create employment and livelihood generation for near by states.

Karbonn also aims at becoming the largest mobile phone manufacturer in the country and will invest Rs 2000 crore over the next year to achieve this.

In addition to the Bawal plant in Haryana Karbonn is also setting up a new facility in Tirupati, which will have surface-mount technology (SMT) production and assembly lines, along with charger and battery units for the supplies. Along with mobile handsets, Karbonn will be venturing in accessories and battery manufacturing in September, 2016, the company said in a statement.
