To use e-commerce platform for distribution

Finnish handset maker Jolla is planning to enter the highly competitive Indian market in near future. The company is in talks with multiple partners in India to start selling its devices. Jolla is planning to take the e-commerce route to reach out to its customers.

“Jolla is now rapidly entering into new markets, and is negotiating with partners in several countries, including Russia, India and Hong Kong where Jolla will open online sales in the near future,” the company said on Friday.

Jolla had launched its first series of phones in November last year but it was launched only in Finland on DNA’s network. Now the company is planning to expand into other markets as well including other European markets.

The Finnish company Jolla, founded by ex-Nokia employees, also has its own proprietary mobile operating system – Sailfish. The company launched the first version of the OS Sailfish 1.0 on Friday which is its third update so far.

“We believe that Jolla now offers a truly viable option for all smart phone users. Naturally we are not stopping here, as we continue to provide monthly software updates to Jolla devices and Sailfish OS,” says Marc Dillon, Co-Founder and COO of Jolla.

The company would release its fourth update very soon, the statement added.
The Sailfish OS is a distinctive, gesture – based mobile operating system and it supports Android based based applications alongside Jolla platform based apps.
