Jio Prime Extends Till 15 April, Offers 3 More Month Of Free Service

As expected, Jio Prime got an extension for 15 days so that customers who have not enrolled with Jio Prime plan by 31st March, can get the Happy New Year services, by registering with Jio Prime by April 15  by paying an annual fee of Rs 99.

TeleAnalysis had first reported this that Jio Prime may get an extension.

Besides, the new 4G operator also offered a new scheme to its customers called Jio Summer Surprise. With this package, all Jio Prime customers will get a 3 month free period for their services with their first recharge of Rs 303. Means, if a user recharges his Jio number with Rs 303 by 15 April, he or she will not have to recharge for the next three months. This is applicable for all those customers who have already enrolled for Prime by 31 March or those who will be registering the same by 15 April.

The paid period, for these users, will start from July after the complimentary offerings come to an end.

While announcing the extension of Jio Prime, the company also claimed that more 72 million Jio users have enrolled for the Prime membership.

“This is the largest migration from free to paid services in history in such a short period of time,” Reliance Jio said in a statement.

“Considering the unprecedented demand for enrolling to Jio Prime and doing the first recharge, Jio has extended the deadline for purchasing Jio’s Rs 303 (and other) plans till 15th April. This extension will provide the necessary breathing room for users to avoid service disruption during the transition from free to paid services,” the statement added.

The company also hinted in the statement that there could be more ‘surprise’ offerings for Jio Prime members and the Summer Surprise program is just the beginning.

Last we reported that the company is mulling an extension for the Prime scheme and it may get extended as the company has not gathered expected number of Prime customers. Company insiders had told us that there could be around 22-27 million customers who have converted their services to Jio Prime.
