Reliance Jio, the telecom services arm of Reliance Industries, made a commercial launch of its services in September last year. In this one year the company has acquired more than 100 million users on its 4G LTE network. Jio is India’s only operator with an all-IP network and offers only 4G services.

The company is the first and only operator to offer voice call services, SMS and roaming services completely free of charge. Its a data only operator and all its offerings are based on its 4G data network.

In August this year the company also launched a 4G feature phone – Jio Phone– – targeting the over 500 million Indians who do not have a smartphone or have not experienced internet yet. The Jio Phone is a 4G feature phone but capable of offering data services like a smartphone. The Jio Phone is also offered free of cost, though there is a security deposit of Rs 1500 involved, which the operator promises to refund when the device is returned after 3 years.
