Intex Partners TISS To Offer On-Job Training To Its Workforce

Local mobile phone maker Intex today said it has partnered with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) to provide on-job training in a formal manner to its semi skilled workforce who are working in the company’s manufacturing plant in Noida.

The partnership with TISS charts out like this. Intex would provide the on-job training to the new hires whereas TISS would offer a bachelors program for them. Intex feels, its workforce, who are semi skilled and mostly are school passouts, should not discontinue higher studies.

The Mumbai based premier education institute will be running a 3-year Bachelors in Vocational Studies with specialisation in electronics manufacturing. While the on-job training will be executed while working in the mobile manufacturing facility, the course from TISS will be provided in a facility near to the plant.

The TISS bachelors program comprises of 2-hour long training and will be scheduled after the working hours, and will be given from 6 PM to 8 PM. It will be 3-year or six semester program.

The Delhi based mobile phone maker said it will hire around 600 people annually or around 300 per semester during the admission sessions for the on-job training and most of the new hires would be from states like Bihar, Jharkhand and East UP.

“The Modi Government’s s India Development agenda through Skill India, Make in India and Digital India policies will give impetus to the country’s overall economic development, unleash India’s skill resource and thereby create millions of skilled jobs across sectors. At Intex, we follow the same motto by not just aiming to create basic jobs but skilled manpower and high-skilled jobs for the country. As a first step forward, we are very happy and excited to partner with one of the leading educational institution, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in imparting formal education and qualification to the pool of semi-skilled manpower, which in future will not only benefit the industry
but the employability scenario of the country and encourage bright people from remotest parts of the country in taking step forward in doing something meaningful in their life,” said Intex CMD Narendra Bansal.
