Unity Develops Video Game To Be Played By AI Gamers, Not Humans

World’s leading gaming tools developer Unity Technologies today announced that it has developed a new video game that will be played between AI enabled computers, and not mortal humans!

The video game is called Obstacle Tower and will test the skills of AI agents in terms of their complexity solving skills upto a level of 100.

“The Obstacle Tower Challenge will be a new competition aimed at testing the vision, control, planning, and generalization abilities of AI agents — capabilities that have yet to be fully tested together,” the company writes in a blog.

The company is organising an Obstacle Tower Challenge where the artificial intelligence developers can test and build their skill sets in developing more sophisticated AI solutions.

“It is important for the development and advancement of AI methods to have a good benchmark, so that performance and achievements can be fairly and easily compared. This is why we built the Obstacle Tower and why we’re launching our first challenge,” the blog writes. “We are hoping a little friendly competition will help stimulate AI research and further the studies and creations in reinforcement learning.”

The challenge offers a prize pool worth $100,000 that consists of cash, travel vouchers, and Google Cloud Platform credits. The challenge starts from February 11 to May 24 and the winners will be announced on June 14.

The Obstacle Tower video game looks like a primitive computer game and the player, a girl, runs through a maze to climb up the tower. In each tower the player faces multiple obstacles like pits and other hurdles to find a key to the next level.
