Delhi Pollution: Idea Offers Flexi-timing, Masks To Employees

In order to fight the deadly Delhi pollution, Idea Cellular today said it has offered its employees the option of flexi timing, which essentially means – work from home. Besides, the company that has offices in Delhi as well as other NCR regions, has started plying special buses and asked employees to use car-pooling as a mode of transportation.

The Aditya Birla group telecom operator has also distributed face masks to its employees to battle out the bad air quality of Delhi and its adjacent areas.

“Flexi timing is being enabled to convenience employees and face masks are being distributed to assist them in reducing their exposure to pollutants in the air. Special buses will be plied to pick and drop employees from key locations and car pools are being planned so that vehicular movement is reduced,” Idea Cellular said in a statement.

Delhi has been facing the wrath of pollution for last few days and a thick blanket of smog has covered the state and its neighboring areas for a week now. Breathing in the open air has became a herculean task and people on the streets are reported to be complaining of eye irritations, nausea, heavy coughing and infection in the throat.

People are seen travelling wearing masks and the authorities have shut down schools till November 9. Idea Cellular also extended these facilities for its employees for a week.

The company said its taking all possible measure for its employees.

“In view of the present weather condition and the poor air quality in Delhi NCR, Idea Cellular, which has operations facilities in Noida, looking after Delhi NCR and the UP West region, is taking all necessary steps in the interest of the health of its employees,” the statement added.

The recent pollution in Delhi has been attributed to various factors including stubble burning in neighboring states, dust from construction sites, vehicular emission and smoke from crackers.
