Greg Young is the new CEO of Ooredoo, Myanmar

The board of directors of the Omani Qatari Telecommunications Company SAOG (Nawras) has approved the appointment of Greg Young as the New CEO of Ooredoo in Myanmar, with effect from 23 October 2013.

Greg Young will replace Ross Cormack, who has been appointed as the new CEO of Ooredoo in Myanmar.

Young is an accomplished telecoms professional with 29 years of experience in the industry, encompassing executive management, and both commercial and technical roles within leading telecommunications operators. Prior to joining Nawras, he was CEO, Sri Lanka Telecom, which is the largest telecom operator in Sri Lanka and the second largest publically listed company with over 10,000 employees.

“I am delighted to welcome Greg Young to Nawras and I am sure you will join me in wishing him every success in his new role in this exciting Company,” said Amjad Mohammed Al Busaidi, chairman, Nawras.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our departing CEO Ross, Cormack, for creating a leading communications company in Oman. Ross was instrumental in the original bid for a telecommunications licence in Oman in 2004, with many significant milestones being achieved since that time. Ross has been an inspirational leader for the Nawras family members as they built a business that now offers exciting fixed and mobile broadband services to nearly 2.3 million people in Oman,” added Busaidi.
