Ericsson To Manage Smile Communications’ LTE Network

ericsson-smile-communicationsEricsson on Wednesday said it bagged a multi-year managed services contract from Smile Communications in Africa to manage its 4G-LTE networks. According to the agreement signed between the two parties, Ericsson would manage operations and maintenance for Smile Communications in Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo.

The five year contract includes network operation, network performance and optimization, field services, and spare parts management by the Swedish company.

This managed services contract extends Ericsson’s relationship with Smile in Nigeria, where Ericsson is Smile’s sole vendor for 4G networks. The agreement also leverages Ericsson’s more than 15 years of experience in managing multi-vendor, multi-technology networks in Tanzania, Uganda and the DRC, the company said in a statement.
