Dr Jai Menon joins HT Media

Jai Menon, former group chief information officer, Bharti Enterprises has joined HT Media as group director, technology.

He will focus on integrating the newspaper with new technologies like Web 2.0 and mobile. At HT Media, Jai will focus on improving web interface, mobile interface and also social media for the group. Speaking to TeleAnalysis, Dr Jai Menon confirmed that he has joined HT Media.

Dr Jai Menon, served as group chief information officer, Bharti Enterprises from 2007 to December 2013 and director, global innovation & IT at Bharti Airtel until December 2013. Dr Menon served as head of innovation & information technology in India and Africa at Bharti Airtel since April 2011.

Dr Menon served as group director information technology for Bharti Airtel since March 2010. He served as group chief information officer, group chief technology officer and corporate director, Bharti Televentures and provided strategic direction to the company on information technology and technology applications. He was the one who brought managed services to India by joining hands with IBM for IT.

Jai Menon joined Bharti Airtel in August 2002 as corporate director – IT Technology and launched enterprise business unit as its joint president.

He started his career with IBM in the USA and served as an executive director in IBM’s software group. Before joining Bharti, Dr Menon served as corporate officer and executive vice president of Applications, Strategy and Product Innovation at BellSouth where he focused on growth businesses and strategic alliances.

He serves on advisory boards of several technology companies and has been a Member of IEEE, ASME, ACM, Phi Kappa Phi, NASSCOM IT panel and CM national innovation panel.

Dr Menon has authored over sixty international research publications, filed over thirty US patents, served on an editorial board of several international journals and has chaired several international conferences. Jai Menon received his B Tech from IIT, Delhi, MS and PhD from Cornell University. He has also completed executive management programs from Harvard, Wharton and Sloan School of Business.
