Vodafone Idea Q3 2019 Financial Results : Main Points

Vodafone Idea, the merged entity between Vodafone India and Idea Cellular, has announced its Q3 financial results for FY 2019. This is second quarterly results announced by the firm post the closure of their merger which happened in August 2018.

“We are progressing well on our stated strategy. The initiatives taken during the quarter started showing encouraging trends by the end of the quarter. We are moving faster than expected on integration, specifically on the network front, and we are well on track to deliver our synergy targets. We remain focused on fortifying our position in key districts by expanding the coverage and capacity of our 4G network, and target a higher share of new 4G customers, while offering an enhanced network experience to our customers. The proceeds from the announced capital raise will put us ina strong position to achieve our strategic goals,” said Balesh Sharma, CEO Vodafone Idea.

Below are some highlights of Vodafone Idea Q3 financial results

  • Gross Revenue for Q3, 2019 is Rs 11765 crore as against Rs 12,023 crore in Q2, 2019. In Q3, 2018 the company’s revenue was Rs 6510 crore
  • The company posted loss in this quarter. The net loss for Q3, 2019 is at Rs 5005 crore as against Rs 4950 crore in Q2
  • Total subscriber base at the end of Q3, 2019 is at 387 million. In Q2, it was 422 million, showing a loss of 35 million subscribers in 3 months
  • 93.9% of Vodafone Idea’s subscribers are prepaid users
  • Company’s 2G coverage is present in 472381 villages at the end of the quarter, in the previous quarter 479187 villages were covered, means Vodafone Idea is shutting down 2G networks
  • Company’s wireless broadband services, means 3G and 4G, are available in 263915 villages in Q3. In the previous quarter it was present in 253205 villages
  • Company’s total subscriber base 387 million at the end of Q3, 2019, of this..
  • 2G subscriber base 279 million
  • 3G subscriber base 33 million
  • 4G subscriber base 75 million
  • ARPU (average revenue per user) is Rs 89 at the end of Q3, 2019. In Q2 it was Rs 88
  • On an average a Vodafone Idea customer spends 580 minutes per month for voice communications
  • On an average a Vodafone Idea data user consumes 6 GB of data per month
  • The company has telecom tower base of 198,171
  • Gross debt as at December 31, 2018 was Rs. 1,236.6 billion, including deferred spectrum payment obligations due to the Government of Rs. 914.8 billion
  • Vodafone Idea added 11123 4G sites during the quarter
