Cisco, TSSC join hands to promote skill development

Telecom sector skill council (TSSC) that promotes skills development in the telecom sector today joined hands with multiple technology companies including Cisco to impart training to 80,000 people across India.

The premier government body partnered with World Trade Center,Bangalore, ITI and UTL besides Cisco to promote skill development in the country.

The committee formed by TSSC and other technology firms would train the 80,000 youth in next 18 months. This is a part of TSSC’s vision of imparting training to 5 million people by 2022. The government is infusing Rs 80 crore for this purpose.

Today, in an event organised in bangalore, TSSC CEO Lt Gen (Dr) SP Kochhar, handed over Industry Partnership Affiliations to Cisco, ITI and UTL and Skill Development Partnership Affiliation to ITI Ltd, four Cisco Affiliated Training Partners and three Training Partners with their base in Bangalore. TSSC also signed four Industry MoUs for the promotion of Skills Development.

As part of this initiative, Cisco will deploy the Cisco Education Enabled Development (CEED) platform – its cloud based video delivered solution to empower rural India through efficient delivery of skill development courses.
“This is a great example of how the industry can collaborate with others to use technology as the enabler for inclusive growth in the country,” said Inclusive Growth, Cisco.

Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) is an industry led body jointly promoted by The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), Indian Cellular Association (ICA), Telecom Centres of Excellence (TCOE) with Governing body Members including DEITY, IIM and NSDC. TSSC is mandated to facilitate training of 80,000 people and help infuse Rs. 80 Cores Government support for skilling in Telecom Domain under the recently launched National Skill Certification and Monetary (STAR) Scheme and is the implementing agency for STAR Scheme for the Telecom Sector.  TSSC envisages to skill 5 Million people by the year 2022.

The event was addressed by Mr. Aravind Sitaraman, President, Inclusive Growth Cisco, Mr. K L Dhingra, CMD ITI Ltd, Dr. C Rao Kasarabada, Group Chairman UTL, Mr. Balaram Menon, President, World Trade Center Bangalore, Dr. Bose K Nair, Vice President, World Trade Center Bangalore.
