BSNL Launches Mobile Broadcast Service BSNL Buzz

BSNL-buzz-celltik-partnershipState run operator BSNL today launched, BSNL Buzz, a cellular broadcast service to be available on mobile phones. The company has partnered with US based technology firm Celltik for this.

With this partnership, BSNL buzz would offer a fully managed high value interactive service on home screen of the users. Buzz would provide interactive services like content, news, contests, subscription packs, coupons and advertising. It will also offer location based services in seven Indian languages such as Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Malyalam, Kannada and Telugu besides English.

Celltick’s managed service delivers location-based information and provides ease of access to relevant content, service discovery and mobile coupons for physical goods that can be redeemed in store.

The BSNL Buzz was supposed to be launched by end of 2014 but it was delayed by more than six months now. In September last year both the companies have joined hands to offer the BSNL Buzz to the customers.

“For launching ‘BSNL BUZZ’, BSNL chose to implement Celltick’s LiveScreen service to leverage Celltick’s experience and expertise in creating a service that delivers value to the consumer while ensuring monetization for the operator. Their proven media management capabilities and proven success in managing large volume services will aid us in providing the right services for our subscriber,” BSNL’s current CMD Anupam Shrivastava had said in September when he was the Director of the BSNL Board.

“Our LiveScreen based managed services have been very successful in reaching a wide audience in India. We are confident that we will enable BSNL subscribers to easily access much-desired, real-time information and services. We have proven repeatedly that we can make mobile initiated commerce adapt to growth markets and have established ourselves as a leader not only in being able to reach the consumer but to also monetize by providing value to the consumer,” Celltik’s CEO Ronen Daniel had said then.

Few months back, in February this year, Celltik launched a similar service like BSNL Buzz on Airtel’s network in Sri Lanka.
