Bharti Airtel Bags Gurgaon WiFi Contract

Bharti-Airtel-Bags-Gurgaon-WiFi-ContractBharti Airtel today announced that it has won the mandate for the launch of WiFi services in Gurgaon from the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG).

Bharti Airtel won Gurgaon contract by bidding Rs 10 lakh per year for providing WiFi services and the contract is valid for 5 years.

“The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon will provide free right of way for the operator and also facilitate electricity connection to the operator to set up their equipment,” said Vivek Kalia, joint commisioner, MCG.

“The operator has to start WiFi operations within 3 months of getting the work order,” added Kalia.

With this, Airtel has become the preferred partner to provide residents of the Millennium City an opportunity to connect to provide internet experiences on the move. Airtel will soon roll-out WiFi services in MG Road, Sadar Bazaar, Sector 29, Sirhaul Village and Leisure Valley Park providing residents with mobile Internet at a speed of 2 Mbps.

The WiFi services will be an open platform for mobile phones users with WiFi compatible devices in these localities with a daily quota limit of 30 minutes per day per device. Post 30 minutes users will be charged a nominal amount and they can also consume data from their data packs. Users will also be able to buy online vouchers with affordable deals to continue accessing WiFi services.
