Demoneitization : MobiKwik Launches A ‘Lite’ Version Of Its Mobile Wallet

MobiKwik, one more mobile wallet firm, today launched a light version of the app so that people who do not have access to email IDs or to Google Playstore, can also use this app and make financial transactions.

Named MobiKwik Lite, the app can be downloaded by giving a missed call to a number ‘8097180971’ and the user will get a link to download the app.

MobiKwik Lite, the company claims takes just 1 MB space in the user’s smartphone, compared to multi-MB space in other mobile wallets. This app will also consume less data compared to other wallet, and users having low-data plans like 2G or 3G.

The MobiKwik Lite offers app usage in two languages – English as well as Hindi, in order to help non-English using customers to use it. The company plans to bring this app in other languages as well. Through this app users can receive, transfer funds, P2P transfer, bill payments and various recharges.

The company has tied up with more than 1,50,000 retailers having more than two and half lakh retail presence where the mobile wallet can be used. For the merchants, the app remains free till 31 March, 2017, and the company may look at charging  a nominal fee after that. But for consumers it will remain free.

The company claims the user transactions have growth 75% since government’s demonetization announcement where the high value currencies like Rs 500 and Rs 1000 cease its legal tender, or in simple terms, are banned.
