Facebook Launches Parent’s Portal To Help Kids

As a part of its safety policy Facebook has launched a parent’s portal which will guide the elders in teaching their kids and younger ones on how to use the social media. It will also answer the parents’ questions about how the social media works once their kids join.

“To help parents get the most out of their experience and help their child navigate their experience, Facebook has launched the Parent’s Portal in collaboration with parents, teens and safety experts around the world. It has recently updated its Safety Center and Bullying Prevention Hub and today it introduced a Parent’s Portal, which provides parent specific advice as part of the Safety Center,” said a statement of the social media major.

“Keeping our community safe is core to everything we do. People will only come to Facebook if it’s a safe place to connect and share with the people they care. The Parent’s Portal responds to feedback we have received about a knowledge gap among parents about our safety policies, tools and resources. With the new Safety Center and Parent’s Portal, we worked with safety experts and local partners to develop content that resonates with our community,” said Ankhi Das, Public Policy Director, India, South and Central Asia, Facebook.

The Parent’s Portal includes guides for parents about how the social media works, tips for talking with your kids about staying safe online and resources from experts around the world. Dr. Anjlee Prakash, MD, Learning Links Foundation: “As parents we need to take the time to understand how our children are using technology and how we can help keep them safe online. We’re pleased to partner with Facebook on the latest addition to its Safety Center – a Parent’s Portal which includes guides for parents about how Facebook works and tips for talking with your kids about making the right choices online. Starting a conversation and building mutual trust with your children is critical to keeping them safe online.”
