Anupam Shrivastava to take over as CMD, BSNL in July

Anupam Shrivastava, director, consumer mobility, BSNL will take over as the new chairman and managing director, BSNL on July 1, 2014.

The PSEB (Public Sector Enterprises Selection Board) has selected Anupam Shrivastava for the post of chairman and managing director.

The PSEB had called nine people for BSNL’s CMD interview. The people who were called for interview included: NK Gupta, director, CFA, BSNL; Nalini Rao, GM, Finance, Tamil Nadu circle, BSNL; Anupam Shrivastava, director, consumer mobility, BSNL; Pravin Varshney, senior chief engineer, electrical, UP (E), BSNL; Anil Jain, senior GM, BSNL; Kamlakar Kaul, executive director, TCIL; RK Bahuguna, CMD, Railtel; Lohane, Indian Railways; and GK Upadhyay, CGM, Haryana circle, BSNL.

On May 1, 2013 he was took over as director, consumer mobility, BSNL. He is responsible for the growth of mobile business of GSM/CDMA/WiMAX in BSNL, including all activities related to sales & marketing, VAS, tariff finalization and revenue. As zonal director for North Zone he was responsible for monitoring growth and maintenance of telecom network in 8 circles.

Anupam Shrivastava worked as senior general manager at Jodhpur, Ajmer and Jaipur in Rajasthan circle. He was instrumental in bringing mobile and 3G revolution in Rajasthan by launching services in Jodhpur and Jaipur respectively. Even NOFN (national optical fiber network) pilot was undertaken in Ajmer under his leadership.

In 1994, he visited Zimbabwe for five years where he focused on fixed line and core network development project. He was posted in Harare while representing TCIL as task force leader to upgrade their telecom services.

Anupam Shrivastava is a 1981 batch ITS officer and has done his BE in (Electronics & Telecom) and MBA (Marketing) from Jabalpur. He has taken telecommunications trainings in India and Japan.
