Amajit Gupta to Leave Alcatel-Lucent

According to industry sources, Amajit Gupta has already put in his papers and would be relieved soon from Alcatel-Lucent.

An industry veteran, Amajit Gupta has worked for more than 27 years in different organizations and in different capacities. He started his career from Tata Burroghs in 1988 where he sold mainframe systems. In 1994, he joined Motorola and got first hand experience on GSM and CDMA network deployment in the country. He was also instrumental in Usha Martin’s GSM network deployment in Kolkata.

In 1999, he joined Telstra and focused on network integration and system integration work for operators and equipment vendors. Later he joined Microsoft where he understood broadband eco-system in great detail for eight long years. This experience helped Amajit to have an indepth understanding of all three pillars of broadband be it network, device or content. For a brief period, Amajit worked for a start-up focused on green energy and looked after marketing for entire South-Asia region.

Amajit joined Alcatel-Lucent in 2010 and was responsible for carrier sales both in India and Nepal. He single handedly build equipment business for Alcatel-Lucent and opened new accounts in Idea Cellular, Tata Communications, Tata Teleservices, Vodafone and Reliance Jio. In Reliance Jio, Alcatel-Lucent first started as a consultant and later bagged orders for GPON and DWDM network which is considered to be one of the largest in the world.

Amajit over the years has developed deep insight as well as experience in both telecom and IT domain and it would be interesting to see what would be his next move as convergence will be soon a reality with the mega launch of 4G services in India.
