Jio Consistently Offers Fastest 4G Data Speed, Double Than Rivals

Reliance Jio, the new entrant that launched its 4G services exactly a year back, has consistently been offering the fastest data speed in the country ever since. Not only the fastest, its 4G data speed is more than double the data speed of its rivals – primarily Airtel, Vodafone and Idea.

As per data sourced from sector regulator TRAI’s MySpeed app, the average 4G data speed of Jio in the month of September was 18.43 Mbps. If we look at the same for the other operators, Airtel’s 4G data speed was 8.55 Mbps whereas Vodafone and Idea offered 8.99 Mbps and 8.74 Mbps respectively. This is the average download speed for the month.

Similarly, if the past three months are taken for consideration to see the consistency, Jio still remains at the top with average 4G data speed of 19.9 Mbps. The second fastest operator in India is Vodafone that offered an average of 15.9 Mbps over last three months and Airtel, the first operator that launched 4G services in the country, remains at number 3 in the list with average 4G data speed of 9.9 Mbps. Idea Cellular offered data at 8.4 Mbps whereas state run telco BSNL offered it at 1.8 Mbps speed.

If we look at the upload data speed, the TRAI MySpeed app offers some other interesting data.

Idea Cellular that offered lowest data speed in terms of download offered highest upload data speed for the month of September. It offered at the rate of 6.30 Mbps. Vodafone remained number 2 at here also with data speed of 5.77 Mbps. Jio, the fastest data operator in terms of download offered upload data speed at 4.13 Mbps and Airtel offered it at 4.08 Mbps.

And if we look at the average upload data speed of various operators over last 3 months, then Vodafone remained at the top with 8.7 Mbps. Airtel’s average upload speed for the same reporting period was 6.6 Mbps and Idea Cellular, Reliance Jio and BSNL offered upload data speed of 6.3 Mbps, 4.2 Mbps and 1.8 Mbps respectively.
