Xiaomi Launches Its Cheapest Phone Redmi 4A With 13 MP Camera For Rs 5,999


It can’t get any cheap. And it should not get any cheap for a smartphone having 5 inch display and 13 megapixel camera to be sold at Rs 5,999, and that too from a braned manufacturer like Xiaomi. Yes, the Chinese phone maker today launched its most affordable smartphone Redmi 4A for just Rs 5,999.

The Redmi 4A, however, does not compromise when it comes to specs. The phone comes with 5 inch screen with HD display with dual SIM support. The phone is powered by Qualcomm quadcore 1.4 GHz processor with Snapdragon 425 chipset and is coupled with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage capacity. This space can be upped up to 128 GB using micro SD cards.

On camera front the Redmi 4A comes with 13 megapixel primary snapper with f/2.2 aperture and a front camera of 5 megapixel. The cameras come with smart features like Beautify on both Pro as well as Smart modes. The phone carries a 3120 mAh battery.

This latest phone from Xiaomi is LTE and VoLTE enabled and comes in three colors – Dark Grey, Gold and Rose Gold.

With the announcement of Redmi 4A, the company also announced its second manufacturing unit in partnership with Foxconn at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The first plant went live in August 2015 and by March 2016, over 75 percent of its phones were being manufactured in India.

With the new manufacturing plant, more than 95 percent of Xiaomi’s smartphones sold in India are now manufactured in India. Xiaomi will now have a combined production capacity of one phone per second during operational hours, the company claimed.

The plant, according to the company, employs 5000 people from over 100 surrounding villages of which More than 90 percent of the workforce employed are women.

With this new plant and our latest Redmi 4A, we are truly excited to be playing a role in enhancing the quality of life for people in India and being a part of the fabric of the country. The Xiaomi Redmi 4A will be available on company’s own shopping portal as well as on amazon from 23 March.
