Huawei Ships 200 Mn Smartphones In 2018

Huawei Consumer Business Group that deals with smartphones and other such consumer devices today claimed it has shipped over 200 million smartphones in 2018, a record for the company. In 2017 it has shipped 153 million units, the company said in a statement.

The company’s Nova series of smartphones has seen the maximum demand from the consumers with total shipment crossing over 65 million in 2018. Huawei Nova series which the company project as a smartphone for the youth come with innovative elements such as its full-screen and hole-punch-style display. Its Nova 3, the company claimed, became the most popular selfie phone fo 2018.

The Huawei P20 series, the company claims, is all about what smart mobile photography can do, proving that even thin and stylish mobile phones can provide a professional-level photography experience. Since its release in March, global shipments of Huawei P20 have exceeded 16 million units, with female users accounting for nearly half of that number.

The Huawei Mate 20 series that was launched in September also saw a lot of demand across the globe. The company claimed it has shipped over 5 million units of Mate 20 series phones within two months of its launch. The Huawei Mate 20 smartphones come with the most powerful and sophisticated chip in Huawei history, the Kirin 980. The chipset features highly sophisticated 7nm processing and a more powerful A76-based+G76 architecture.

In the past eight years, Huawei’s smartphone shipments have increased from 3 million units in 2010 to 200 million units in 2018, reflecting approximately a sixty-six-fold growth. In the global smartphone market, Huawei has gone from being dismissed as a statistical “Other” to ranking among the top three players in the world. Moreover, in the second and third quarters of 2018, Huawei became the world’s second largest smartphone manufacturer, with a global market share of 14.6%.
