Huawei To Launch Its Foldable 5G Smartphone Huawei Mate X In India Soon

Huawei Consumer Business Group, the unit that looks after the smartphones and other devices business, has said it will launch its first foldable smartphone, the Huawei Mate X, sometime this year in India. The phone which is also the company’s first 5G smartphone was unveiled during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona early this year.

The foldable phone, when opened, looks like a tablet and when closed, acts as a smartphone. Huawei deploys a technology, what it calls as, Falcon Wing Mechanical hinge, helps the the HUAWEI Mate X unfold like a falcon extending its wings.

The smartphone is of 6.6 inch and when it is unfolded it becomes an eight inch tablet with just 5.4 mm thickness. It features a high-capacity 4500 mAh battery supporting 55W HUAWEI SuperCharge, that tops the battery up quickly to minimize downtime for those who prefer a fast-paced lifestyle. In just 30 minutes, HUAWEI SuperCharge is able to charge the battery back to 85 percent.

The HUAWEI Mate X runs on the Balong 5000 chipset, which is the world’s first multi-mode 5G SoC with 7nm process, being able to support 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G with a single chip; Balong 5000 is the first to achieve the industry’s benchmark in 5G peak download rate, offering 4.6Gbps in Sub-6GHz (low frequency band, 5G main frequency band); Balong 5000 is the world’s first chipset to support SA and NSA simultaneously, with the ability to adapt to different hardware requirements and formats for users and telecom operators, making the HUAWEI Mate X the true 5G smartphone.

Huawei has used Leica cameras for the Mate X. The foldable design makes it possible for the camera system to play the role of both front and rear cameras. When folded, the HUAWEI Mate X shows a view finder on both sides, so even the subjects in the frame can contribute to the creative process.

“India is an important market for us and we have been consistently investing and expanding our footprint in the market. We are focused on delivering the user experiences that defines the future of smartphone in the smart era. The unveiling of the HUAWEI Mate X was the first key for consumers to open the door to 5G smart living. As the leader of the 5G era, we are bringing an inspired, intelligent experience to global consumers in every aspect of their lives. We want our customers here to witness Huawei’s global 5G technological strength, and experience this technology marvel,” said Wally Yang, Senior Product Marketing Director, Huawei Consumer Business Group.
