HMD Global, the current owner of Nokia phones, has launched the company’s latest smartphone, the Nokia 2, in India. This launch was a global launch and the phone would be available from mid November.
The 5 inch Nokia 2 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 mobile platform and runs on Android Nougat OS. Very soon, the phone will be upgraded to Oreo, a company official said.
The Nokia 2 comes with 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal storage capacity and is fitted with 4100 mAh battery. The company claims the phone would survive for 2 days with a single full recharge.
In terms of camera, the Nokia 2 comes with 8 megapixel rear camera fitted with LED flash and auto focus. The front camera is a 5 megapixel fixed focus one and is without a front flash.
“People rely on their phones so much these days with many people subconsciously rationing their battery life when out and about so they can last the day. We don’t think you should have to do less with your phone which is why we created a smartphone that can power through when other devices need a pit stop,” said Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer of HMD Global.
“With the Nokia 2, we wanted to replicate the unique Android experience we’ve delivered so far with the long-lasting battery which so many fans associate and expect from their Nokia phones. To make this a reality, every component of the Nokia 2- from the display to battery, chipset to system design – has been engineered to draw as little power as possible from the huge battery to give fans a long-lasting phone they can rely on,” he added further.
“The new generation of Indians have leapfrogged to the digital world by embracing the smartphone. Mobile is the key device for over 90% Indians to access the internet. India is now the leading mobile data consumption market in the world. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Mobile Platform, the new Nokia 2 brings reliability, affordability and cutting-edge battery life to meet the requirements of the new age smartphone user,” said Larry Paulson, Vice President and President, Qualcomm India.
The Nokia 2 is priced 99 Euros and though the India price is not announced it is expected to be around Rs 7000.
