The ministry of communications & IT led by Ravi Shankar Prasad has achieved a lot in last one year.

Here is a snapshot of achievements of Ravi Shankar Prasad in the last one year:

  • Highest ever auction proceeds of Rs 109,874 crore against approved reserve price of Rs 80,277 crore
  • 100 crore telephone connections achieved of which 2.65 crore are landline and 97.35 crore mobile connections
  • Rural tele-density grew 48.9 percent, an increase of 4.57 percent
  • FDI in telecom was highest in last four years and reached $2.85 billion in 2014-15
  • Broadband connections increased by 52 percent to reach 99.2 million connections
  • BSNL and MTNL added 49.11 lakh subscribers in 2014-15
  • BSNL establishes 100 WiFi hotspots in important tourist locations like Varanasi, Husain Sagar Lake, Bangalore, Cochin and Vijayawada
  • BSNL added 15000 BTSs in the last one year
  • 2,590 post offices modernized having 14.55 crore accounts migrated to core banking and 115 post office ATMs commissioned
  • 13,264 post offices migrated to Core Postal Life Insurance
  • Sukanya Samridhi Yojana has more than 47 lakh accounts with total investment of more than Rs 570 crore
  • Cash on Delivery collections increased 5X to reach Rs 500 crore in 2014-15
  • MSIPs scheme received 63 investment proposals worth Rs 20,825 crore of which 40 proposals worth Rs 9,565 crore approved
  • Electronic Manufacturing Clusters (EMCs) received 39 applications of which 21 has been approved
  • 2.02 Lakh Digital Life Certificates Produced
  • Beta version of Digital Locker launched. 1.24 locker launched
  • Approval of 48,000 seats of rural BPOs in different states and this to be distributed to different states based on  census population
  • 5,000 seats for BPOs in North East approved
  • Approval of Open Source Software Policy
  • Establishment of National Cyber Coordination Center approved with outlay of Rs 770 crore
  • Botnet Cleaning and Malware Analysis Center approved with an outlay of Rs 90.5 crore
  • National Super Computing Mission approved with an outlay of Rs 4,500 crore for developing more than 70 super computers
