HughesOn: How Hughes Used GSM SIMs To Build VPN Type Solution

Defying the conventional, the HughesOn solution uses GSM as last mile to provide VPN-grade connectivity services to enterprises

IT and business leaders across small and large enterprises inspired by the government’s’ Digital India vision are making consistent efforts to drive new strategic models to envision efficient business operations. With the explosive growth in cloud and rich-media applications deployed at branches, distributed enterprises are seeking Next Generation WAN architectures that deliver high performance, non-stop application availability and industry leading security.

And for most the above requirements, many an enterprises and business houses, prefer getting the services from an expert, the managed service providers and focus themselves on their core job.

Though there are many service providers that offer a rich portfolio of managed services, the catch, however, remains with getting the solution relevant, reliable and yet affordable. And, the VSAT operator Hughes brought an innovation into this space on all the aspects by bringing a new product portfolio – HughesON.

The Solution
HughesON is a suite of managed solutions that help enterprises and SMEs empower their network—and their businesses—with new, cutting-edge technologies. The innovation that Hughes brought in this solution is that the company used GSM as last mile to provide the connectivity. Instead of using the expensive and scarce VPN networks, the VSAT firm utilized the ubiquitous mobile network provided by established telecom operators to provide the last mile connectivity.
