Airtel 499 Plan Now Offers 40 GB 4G Data

Showing gratitude towards its customers, country’s largest telecom operator Bharti Airtel Friday upgraded its Rs 499 post paid plan by doubling the data offer. The new Airtel 499 plan now offers 40 GB of 4G data in place of earlier 20 GB. The new plan was announced yesterday.

“Starting today, your mobile plan includes 40 GB data without any extra cost or change in rental,” Airtel informed its customers who are on the 499 Infinity post paid plan.

There is, however, no change in other benefits in the new Airtel 499 plan, the operator added. Reasoning the upgradation the company said “it is our way of saying Thank You for choosing Airtel.”

Airtel has close to 295 million customers in India and around 4% the customer base are subscribed to post paid plans.

The Airtel 499 plan was first launched in November 2017 under its Infinity postpaid tariff plans. The plan then offered unlimited local and STD calls and 20 GB 4G or 3G data for a monthly rental of Rs 499. The plan also included device protection wherein the customer can get insurance cover for his smartphone if damaged due to fall or accident. Further the plan also offered free subscription to Airtel Wynk Music and Airtel TV.

The new Airtel 499 plan retains all the existing offers besides doubling the data amount to 40 GB. It has also started offering one year free subscription to Amazon Prime. This was launched a month back.

Customers under the Airtel 499 plan will also be able to carry forward their unspent data to the next billing cycle. Airtel was the first operator to offer a data roll over plan wherein unspent data can be carried forwarded to the next billing cycle up to a limit of 200 GB. Many other operators have since followed the practice with their offerings.

Apart from the Airtel 499 plan, the operator has upgraded its other Infinity plans including the 399 plan. The plan now offers 20 GB of 4G or 3G data as compared to 10 GB before upgradation.
