India-Moblie-Congress

Tata Communications in association with Nasdaq listed Semtech Corporation, a supplier of high performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors and advanced algorithms, and HPE will jointly showcase their IoT solutions at the India Mobile Congress.

The India Mobile Congress (IMC), a conclave and exhibition format designed to replicate Mobile World Congress, is being conducted in India for the first time.

The companies, Tata Comm, HPE and Semtech, are members of the LoRa Alliance, an open, non-profit association that promotes the LoRaWAN protocol as the leading open global standard for secure, carrier-grade IoT LPWAN connectivity.

Tata Communications and HPE will demonstrate their Command Center using the LoRaWAN protocol. The Command Center leverages HPE’s Universal IoT (UIoT) Platform to help connect devices, applications and other IoT solutions over Tata Communications and HPE’s LoRaWAN network. The HPE Universal IoT Platform helps transform cities to be more efficient, agile and resilient to improve quality of life, drive economic growth and create sustainable communities.

“Tata Communications has successfully deployed the first IoT dedicated network in several major cities across India using the LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) technology. Our partnership with Semtech and HPE has resulted into a cohesive, resilient and highly-secure network to deploy IoT applications in India. We have successfully conducted 35 proof-of-concept application trials on our IoT network. Overall, we aim to have around 50 million different IoT devices in the market by 2022,” said VS Shridhar, Senior Vice-President and Head of Internet of Things (IoT), Tata Communications.

The LoRaWAN network will be one of the dedicated network for connected devices in India enabling cost effective, innovative approaches towards applications for the betterment of society. The LoRaWAN network is expected to expand to 60 cities by the end of 2017 and the rest of India by December 2018.

“As cities continue to evolve and get smarter, they are faced with several challenges. While these challenges may vary across cities, quality of life for inhabitants, citizen safety and efficiency continue to remain a priority,” said Nigel Upton, General Manager, IoT, Communications & Media Solutions, HPE. “The HPE and Tata Communications Command Center featuring the LoRaWAN network is designed to put citizens’ needs first and address key challenges across smart buildings, campuses, utilities, fleet management, security, healthcare services and more, head on.”

“The use of Semtech’s unique LoRa devices and wireless RF technology (LoRa Technology) and the global LoRaWAN standard already enable IoT solutions throughout India and drive great benefits for businesses, urban development, agriculture, and overall quality of life,” said Marc Pegulu, Vice President and General Manager of Semtech’s Wireless and Sensing Products Group. “Semtech, Tata Communications and HPE understand the importance of IoT for India and are committed to support the implementation of a nationwide LoRaWAN infrastructure.”

India Mobile Congress, the 3 day event is being organised from from 27 September to 29 September and the event expects around 50,000 footfalls every day.
