Nokia today launched a 41 megapixel camera phone in the Indian market. The much anticipated smartphone -Lumia 1020- that aims at camera aficionados will be available in the market from October 11. The company, however, did not disclose the price of the Nokia 1020, though it is expected to be in the range of Rs45,000 to Rs 50,000.

The Nokia 1020 has an application called nokia Pro camera, that the company claims, would help anybody to take professional quality photographs. The camera can be used to take 38 megapixel professional photographs and 5 megapixel images to be used for social networking sites.The application allows users to click pictures first and then zoom later to get their desired shot.

“We have received extremely encouraging response for our Lumia range and believe that Nokia 1020 will further strengthen our leadership in imaging, which plays a important role in the lives of consumers today,” Nokia India Managing Director P Balaji said.
The Nokia 1020 runs on windows operating system and comes with 32 GB of internal storage capacity.

“It is our premium smartphone and our target market is people who value great imaging experience. There are 50 per cent people who click pictures with their smartphones and a fraction of those are camera lovers, who are our target audience for this phone,” Nokia India, Middle East and Africa Director (smartphone devices) Vipul Mehrotra said.

Amazon today introduced the third generation of Kindle Fire—the all new Kindle Fire HDX.

The new Kindle Fire HDX tablets combine groundbreaking hardware, the latest version of Fire OS, and exclusive new features and services like X-Ray for Music, Second Screen, Prime Instant Video downloads, and the revolutionary new Mayday button.

The 7” Kindle Fire HDX will cost $229 and will be available for pre-order starting today and will begin shipping October 18. The 8.9” Kindle Fire HDX will cost $379 and will begin shipping on November 7. The 4G version will cost $479 and will begin shipping December 10.

Apple creates record, 9 mn iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c sold in 3 days

Apple today announced it has sold a record-breaking nine million new iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c models, just three days after the launch of the new iPhones on September 20.

In addition, more than 200 million iOS devices are now running the completely redesigned iOS 7, making it the fastest software upgrade in history. Both iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c are available in the US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK.

Demand for iPhone 5s has exceeded the initial supply, and many online orders are scheduled to be shipped in the coming weeks.

“This is our best iPhone launch yet―more than nine million new iPhones sold―a new record for first weekend sales,” said Tim Cook, CEO, Apple.

“The demand for the new iPhones has been incredible, and while we’ve sold out of our initial supply of iPhone 5s, stores continue to receive new iPhone shipments regularly. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough new iPhones for everyone,” added Cook.
