Micromax unveils LapTab, to be launched in February


Micromax has unveiled LapTab which would be launched officially in early February for consumers.

LapTab, the first dual-boot Windows and Android tablet powered by Intel was unveiled at CES 2014. Powered by an Intel processor (Bay Trail-M), the first-in-the-world tablet will offer great performance, and promises an impressively long battery-life for media consumption on the device.

The device supports both Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS and Windows 8. Aptly designed for multi-tasking across operating platforms, users would need to simply reboot the device and select the alternate option to switch from Windows to Android and vice versa.

ZTE to unveil BlueWatch at CES 2014


ZTE is introducing its first smart watch, the BlueWatch at CES 2014 starting next week in the US.

The BlueWatch features a built-in pedometer and records and analyzes data around the clock, giving users access to interesting “quantified self” information like body fat percentage. The watch tethers to a smartphone via Bluetooth, enabling on-wrist control of calls, content, photography, and social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

At CES 2014, ZTE will also unveil a range of high-performance smartphones and consumer electronics products to meet the needs of today’s consumers.

ZTE’s newest devices include a variety of solutions, including the Grand S II flagship smartphone with cutting edge voice control technology, a mobile hotspot with a built-in projector, a new smart watch and a phablet with dual screen functionality, among others.

“ZTE has been developing a portfolio of fantastic consumer electronics on top of the smartphones for which we’ve become well known,” said Zeng Xuezhong, EVP and head of the Mobile Devices Division, ZTE.

The second-generation flagship smartphone Grand S II is the latest evolution in ZTE’s high-end Grand Series line. As ZTE’s first high-precision voice phone, the Grand S II features the latest intelligent voice control technology, enabling voice recognition unlocking and voice-to-phone photography. The Grand S II also offers a host of high-precision audio features, including triple-MIC noise reduction for more natural and clearer voice calls.

ZTE further expands its flagship line of handsets with the nubia5S and nubia 5S mini, the next generation in its nubia series. Both devices feature screaming-fast Qualcomm Snapdragon  quad-core processors, and professional-grade photography hardware and software characteristic of the nubia series.

The larger nubia 5S features a five-inch Sharp 1080p FHD display, a 13 MP camera with a Sony RS sensor, F2,0 aperture, DSLR-like photo options, and 4K Ultra HD video capture, while the nubia 5S mini features a 4.7-inch Sharp IGZO display and comes in an array of colorful finishes.

On the larger-format side of the spectrum, ZTE is debuting its very first Iconic Phablet. This device features a smart viewer that allows two applications to be simultaneously displayed on the screen, and it’s equipped with a dual-core processor, and a 5.7” HD screen complete with Gorilla Glass, Dolby Digital Sound and a wireless charging feature.

ZTE has also developed a mini projector and Wi-Fi hotspot all-in-one, the Projector Hotspot. This device is great for streaming and sharing visual content whether you’re in the office, at home (inside or outside) or in the classroom. With its compact size, the unit can provide 4G access for up to eight clients simultaneously.

Lastly, ZTE is working with AT&T to develop the AT&T Wireless Home Base device, which allows users to connect their home telephone to the AT&T wireless network, and enjoy unlimited local and long distance calling for $20 per month.

Lenovo launches its first LTE smartphone with Vibe Z


Lenovo today introduced its first LTE smartphone, the Lenovo Vibe Z.

The Lenovo Vibe Z, a gorgeous razor-thin, blazing-fast device equipped with gesture controls, photo enhancement software and other premium technologies.

To complement the Vibe Z, Lenovo also launched a trio of smartphones, starting with the S930, a supersized 6-in device primed for media addicts, the S650, a 4.7-in compact and stylish workhorse, and the “tweener” A859, a 5-in high performance all-rounder.

“We created the new Vibe Z with its elegant design, high performance and custom software so that people can truly have the best smartphone experience now at the speed of LTE,” said Liu Jun, senior vice president, Lenovo Business Group, Lenovo.

As Lenovo’s first smartphone featuring LTE capabilities, the Vibe Z offers true mobile freedom with super-fast data upload at up to 50 Mbps and downloading at up to 150 Mbps to satisfy the most data hungry of individuals. The Vibe Z operates on GSM/UMTS networks up to 2100 and also comes with 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0.

The svelte Vibe Z comes encased in a thin 7.9 mm silver or titanium body weighing just 147 grams.
