Apple launches iPad Air and iPad Mini tablets, availability in Nov

iPad Air, a thinner and more powerful iPad with a stunning 9.7-inch Retina display. The tablet weighs just one pound and is 20 percent thinner and 28 percent lighter than the fourth generation iPad.

iPad mini brings all the pixels from the 9.7-inch iPad to its 7.9-inch screen, delivering razor sharp text and detail in the same amazingly thin and light design.

The new iPad features the powerful and power-efficient Apple-designed A7 chip with 64-bit desktop-class architecture, ultrafast wireless with faster built-in Wi-Fi and expanded LTE cellular connectivity and the newly-designed iOS 7 featuring hundreds of great new features.

“iPad created an entirely new mobile computing experience, and the new iPad Air is another big leap ahead. It is so thin, light and powerful, once you hold one in your hand you will understand what a tremendous advancement this is,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

iPad Air’s Retina display makes web pages, text, images and video look incredibly sharp and realistic, and the new power-efficient A7 chip allows the battery to be even smaller, helping reduce the overall volume by 24 percent from the previous generation while doubling its performance and maintaining its up to 10-hour battery life.

The A7 chip in iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display offers 64-bit desktop-class architecture, advanced graphics and improved image signal processing from previous generations. With up to twice the CPU and graphics performance on iPad Air, and up to four times the CPU and eight times the graphics performance on iPad mini with Retina display, almost everything you do is faster and better than ever.

The new iPads also feature the M7 motion coprocessor that gathers data from the accelerometer, gyroscope and compass to offload work from the A7 for improved power efficiency.

Both new iPads feature two antennas to support Multiple-In-Multiple-Out (MIMO) technology, bringing twice the Wi-Fi performance to iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display at a blazingly fast data rate up to 300 Mbps.

Cellular models also come with expanded LTE coverage to accommodate even more LTE networks worldwide, while continuing to deliver comprehensive support for other fast cellular technology around the world (DC-HSDPA, HSPA+), all in a single model.

iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display now have a next generation FaceTime HD camera with improved backside illumination sensors featuring larger pixels for better low-light performance. The iSight camera with 5 MP sensor and advanced optics, combined with iOS 7.

iPad Air with Wi-Fi models will be available in silver or space gray starting on November 1, for a suggested retail price of $499 for the 16 GB model, $599 for the 32 GB model, $699 for the 64GB model and $799 for the 128 GB model. iPad Air with Wi-Fi + Cellular will be available for a suggested retail price of $629 for the 16 GB model, $729 for the 32 GB model, $829 for the 64 GB model and $929 for the 128 GB model.

iPad mini will be available later in November in silver or space gray. The suggested retail price of $399 for the 16 GB model, $499 for the 32 GB model, $599 for the 64 GB model and $699 for the 128 GB model. iPad mini with Retina display Wi-Fi + Cellular models will be available for a suggested retail price of $529 for the 16 GB model, $629 for the 32 GB model, $729 for the 64 GB model and $829 for the 128 GB model.

ZTE launches fixed-line terminals at GITEX 2013

ZTE has launched a range of fixed-line terminals and solutions at Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) 2013 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

During the event, ZTE also unveiled the E6500, a dual-band wireless router targeted at mid to the high-end home market and meeting a variety of home networking needs such as dual-band wireless access, high-speed Internet and download.

The E6500 features ZTE’s proprietary Net Sphere seamless-coverage network technology. Used as a stand-alone device or together with ZTE’s mini access points (APs) and power line communications (PLC) adapters, the E6500 allows home networks to be easily expanded and bypasses the problem of Wi-Fi signals being blocked by walls.

A remarkable feature of the E6500 is that it can run concurrently at both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands with a peak rate of 750 Mbps to deliver a smoother network experience in high-definition video, online gaming and other services.

Kobo launches E Ink and tablets in India

Kobo today announced the arrival of Kobo’s digital reading platform suite- E Ink and tablet devices including Kobo Touch, Kobo Glo, Kobo Arc and Kobo Aura HD in the Indian market.

The readers can now access line-up of devices and alos one of the largest content catalogues in the world, along with Kobo’s top-ranked apps for iOS, Android, Microsoft, and BlackBerry platforms.

Starting today, Kobo will be available in retail locations across India through its partnerships with Crossword, WHSmith and Croma. LG launches LG G2 smartphone in India, priced at Rs 41,500

LG Electronics today launched its flagship smartphone LG G2 in India, priced at Rs 41,500 for a 16 GB model.

The 32 GB model of LG G2 will cost Rs 44,500. Both the models support TD-LTE 2.3 GHz frequency band and can be deployed by BWA operators whenever they plan to bundle the handsets along with their scheme.

G2, the latest kid on the block is designed on insights derived from LG’s study of consumer lifestyle and behavior. A pioneer in design, elegance and technology, this 5.2 inch smartphone is equipped with the industry’s most advanced mobile chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Processor and runs Android Jelly Bean.

LG G2 changes the norm in smartphone design by placing all the buttons on the rear of the device, thereby making it the first mobile phone completely devoid of the side buttons.

The IPS display ensures superior graphics, accurate colors and clear images without any distortion. For more efficient energy usage, the LG G2 employs Graphic RAM (GRAM) technology which reduces the display’s energy use by up to 26 percent on a still frame and increases overall usage time on the device by approximately 10 percent.
