Nokia today launched a 41 megapixel camera phone in the Indian market. The much anticipated smartphone -Lumia 1020- that aims at camera aficionados will be available in the market from October 11. The company, however, did not disclose the price of the Nokia 1020, though it is expected to be in the range of Rs45,000 to Rs 50,000.
The Nokia 1020 has an application called nokia Pro camera, that the company claims, would help anybody to take professional quality photographs. The camera can be used to take 38 megapixel professional photographs and 5 megapixel images to be used for social networking sites.The application allows users to click pictures first and then zoom later to get their desired shot.
“We have received extremely encouraging response for our Lumia range and believe that Nokia 1020 will further strengthen our leadership in imaging, which plays a important role in the lives of consumers today,” Nokia India Managing Director P Balaji said.
The Nokia 1020 runs on windows operating system and comes with 32 GB of internal storage capacity.
“It is our premium smartphone and our target market is people who value great imaging experience. There are 50 per cent people who click pictures with their smartphones and a fraction of those are camera lovers, who are our target audience for this phone,” Nokia India, Middle East and Africa Director (smartphone devices) Vipul Mehrotra said.
